Shopify & E-Commerce Development

Shopify & e-commerce development for brands that have outgrown their theme

Shopify storefronts, headless commerce with Next.js, and the custom features templates can't do — for brands that have outgrown their theme.

We've worked inside the storefronts of two well-known brands — Gray Malin (fine-art photography) and La Ligne (fashion, New York) — doing the engineering work behind the scenes: custom product options, CMS integration, performance tuning and technical SEO. That's the work that moves conversion rate and search rankings, and it's rarely something a theme setting can do.

For brands that need more than Shopify's theme editor allows, we build headless storefronts with Next.js on top of Shopify's APIs — full design freedom, excellent Core Web Vitals, and Shopify's checkout and admin underneath.

Who this is for

  • Established Shopify brands whose theme is slowing down or can't support new product types
  • Retailers moving from WooCommerce, Magento or a custom platform to Shopify
  • Direct-to-consumer brands that want a headless storefront with full design control
  • Retailers anywhere launching online for the first time and wanting it done properly

What's included

  • Shopify theme development (Liquid, Online Store 2.0 sections) or headless Next.js storefront
  • Custom product options, bundles, subscriptions and B2B pricing
  • CMS integration (Contentful, Sanity, Shopify metaobjects) for editorial content
  • Performance optimization: Lighthouse, image delivery, third-party script cleanup
  • Technical SEO: structured data, collection architecture, redirects during migrations
  • Platform migration with order, customer and SEO continuity
  • Analytics: GA4 e-commerce events, Tag Manager, conversion tracking
  • Ongoing development retainer for new features and seasonal campaigns

How it works

  1. Store audit

We review speed, SEO, theme code and conversion flow and give you a prioritized list — even if you don't hire us for the build.

  2. Plan

Theme vs. headless decision, integrations, migration plan and timeline.

  3. Build

Staging theme or storefront you can review weekly. No changes to the live store until sign-off.

  4. Launch & grow

Zero-downtime launch, post-launch monitoring, and a retainer for campaigns and features.

Frequently asked questions

Should we go headless or stay on a Shopify theme?

Most stores do best on a well-built Online Store 2.0 theme. Headless pays off when you need a fully custom front-end, heavy editorial content, or very high performance at scale. We'll tell you honestly which one you need.

Can you improve our store's speed and SEO without a redesign?

Yes — that's most of what we did for Gray Malin and La Ligne: CMS integration, image and script optimization, structured data and product option work, all inside the existing design.

Do you migrate stores from other platforms?

Yes. We move products, customers and orders, set up redirects so you keep your search rankings, and run the old and new stores in parallel until launch.

What does e-commerce development cost?

Theme customization and performance work sits at the lower end of our range; full custom or headless builds are scoped like a product build. Projects typically range from $5,000 to $250,000 — after a store audit we give you a fixed quote.

Do you offer ongoing support?

Most e-commerce clients keep us on a monthly retainer for campaigns, new features and platform updates.
