The problem
Nuance Innovation needed a marketplace where sellers list vehicles, buyers bid live, and the business handles payments and inventory at volume — with separate buyer and seller experiences and the reliability of a trading platform.
What we built
- Led the technical architecture: React front-end, Node.js services, PostgreSQL, AWS infrastructure with CI/CD automation
- Built a WebSocket bidding engine for real-time listings and bids, plus serverless notifications
- Integrated VIN lookup and vehicle data APIs so listings populate accurately in seconds
- Designed dedicated buyer and seller flows, including profiles, vehicle info and payment processing
- Added AI-assisted inventory valuation to help sellers price vehicles
The outcome
A 4.5-year engagement supporting high-volume auction operations, with the platform evolving from MVP to AI-assisted marketplace.
